Good-bye 2013. HELLO 2014!

Wait. It’s 2014! What? I remember when it was 1997. Does that mean I’m getting old? Of course not. It just means I need to continue enjoying each year, each month, each week, each day because time doesn’t stop.

I decided to bring in 2014 with some adventure, my favorite action word.  I love exploring, meeting new people, and of course traveling the world.  First up for this new year; a trip to the jungles of Belize. My mission was to scuba dive but unfortunately mother nature didn’t want me to spend my five days completely submerged underwater. That was ok, I found other adventures to keep me busy: A hike through the jungle, riding an innertube down a river, and of course jumping off a 30 foot waterfall. I mean, why not?  Right? 🙂

I stayed in a village called Hopkins located in eastern Belize.  It’s about a 3 1/2 hour car ride from Belize City. The roads in Belize are rough and most aren’t paved, so I decided to take a puddle jumper (the plane was the size of mini van).  It was only a 15 minute ride and on the return flight I was able to ride shotgun after a little cajoling with the pilot.  That was cool.  Hopkins is small village with about 1,000 villagers. And it’s one of the friendliest places I have visited. It was the perfect place to kick off 2014, my year of adventure.  Any suggestion on where I should  go next?
